AED Batteries

Every AED battery has an expiration date. It is recommended to keep a close eye on this expiration date. Please replace the battery in time to ensure a fully functioning device. Be aware that the AED battery can also be depleted before the expiration date, especially after numerous shocks have been administered during an emergency, which consumes a significant amount of power. A beeping sound or flashing light indicates that the battery needs to be replaced.

The right battery for every AED

On this page you can find nearly all AED batteries from all manufacturers. Most batteries can be delivered from stock. It's important to determine the exact battery you need. You can filter by brand or model. If you're unsure, you are always welcome to contact us.

Lifespan of AED batteries

In addition to the lifespan of your AED device (which is usually around 10 years), it's crucial to monitor the battery's lifespan.

Every AED battery has a different lifespan. When an AED is used regularly, the battery naturally depletes faster than when it remains on standby for years. Unfortunately, not every AED indicates the state of charge of the battery. The lifespan of an AED battery varies from 2 to 7 years, depending on the battery. You will be able to find the lifespan on the particular product page of the battery you are looking for. The battery's lifespan begins from the moment it is placed in the AED.

  • Batteries gradually lose charge, even when they are not in use. There are numerous factors that can can influence the battery's lifespan:
  • The AED has administered shocks during an emergency
  • The storing temperature of the AED is too high or too low
  • The AED was used for regular practice sessions
  • The AED self-tests are too frequent
  • The AED signals a malfunction, in this case it is recommended to remove the battery as soon as possible to prevent further depletion
  • Leaving the battery unused on the shelf
  • The AED is more than 10 years old
  • The electrodes are out of date
  • The AED software is outdated

Your AED will give you a signal when the battery is almost at the end of its life, indicated by a light and/or a sound. Every AED does this before the remaining capacity of the battery is too low for an AED intervention. With our service plans, we keep track of when the battery needs replacement so you don’t need to worry.

Many AED batteries have an "install before" date. The battery should be installed in the device before this date. The manufacturer's indicated lifespan applies from this date.

How do you know when the AED battery should be replaced?

The AED conducts self-tests and detects when the battery is low. Different AED brands signal this in different ways. A red blinking light may indicate a low battery or another malfunction. In the manual for your device you will be able to find what’s amiss. Your AED might also start beeping when the battery is low.

Replacing the AED battery yourself

Most AED batteries can be easily replaced by the user. After inserting the new battery, the AED will initiate a self-test. Once the device is ready for use, the status indicator will show this. It is also important to check the expiration date of the electrodes, as they need replacing more often than the battery.
