DefiSign LIFE AED with internal battery lasting at least 10 years

Good news for DefiSign LIFE users. Thanks to a configuration update, the lifespan of the internal battery has been extended, meaning that an interim replacement is no longer required during the lifetime of the AED. This saves costs, maintenance and unnecessary replacement.

DefiSign LIFE internal battery update: what has changed?

The DefiSign LIFE AED has an internal battery designed for long-term use. Until recently, the device was configured to display a service notification after approximately 5.5 years for scheduled maintenance.
This notification did not affect the AED’s availability for use as long as the green LED continued to flash normally. In practice, maintenance was therefore often scheduled as a preventive measure. With the new configuration, this point in time now better matches the actual lifespan of the device.
With the new configuration update, the service notification has been adjusted to the expected lifespan of the device and will now only appear at the end of the AED’s lifespan. This means that an interim replacement of the internal battery is no longer necessary, and maintenance can be scheduled more flexibly.
The configuration update does not change the technical operation of the internal battery, but prevents maintenance or replacement from being carried out earlier than necessary.

What does this mean for you?

What does this mean for new AEDs?
From February 2026, all new DefiSign LIFE AEDs will be supplied as standard with the new settings. This means you will always receive a device that is ready for many years of reliable use, without the need for an interim replacement of the internal battery.

Do you already have a DefiSign LIFE AED?

For existing DefiSign LIFE AEDs, there are two options for having the configuration update carried out.

With a maintenance contract

The configuration update can be carried out during a scheduled maintenance appointment.
•    The AED will be inspected and updated if applicable.
•    Please note: during periods of high demand, processing the maintenance service may take several days.

Without a maintenance contract

You can purchase and schedule a one-time maintenance appointment.
•    The AED will need to be sent to the Medisol Service Center.
•    The configuration update can be carried out during this maintenance service.
The update does not need to be carried out immediately. If you choose to continue following the existing maintenance protocol, the AED will continue to function normally and will automatically display a scheduled maintenance notification after approximately 5.5 years.

Please note! When we refer to the internal battery, we mean the battery located inside the AED itself. This is not the external battery that clicks into the bottom of the AED. The external battery has an average lifespan of 5 to 6 years and must still be replaced according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
