How do you open an AED cabinet?
AEDs stored in open or wall-mounted brackets are immediately accessible. In contrast, some public AED cabinets are locked and require a key or access code. When an emergency call is made (e.g., via 112), registered responders typically receive the access code as part of the dispatch process. In workplaces, Emergency Response Officers (FAFS) are usually familiar with the cabinet's access method.
That said, we strongly recommend choosing a cabinet without a lock or code whenever possible. In emergencies, unrestricted access can save valuable time and make the difference between life and death.
