Lungs and Airways
New CPR manikins are often delivered with lungs and airways and a set of spare ones. Lungs and airways make it possible to not only perform compressions but also rescue breaths. By blowing in air the manikins’ thorax will rise. As for hygiene, we suggest replacing the lungs after each participant.

How often should you change manikin lungs?
Airways and lung bags are designed for single use only and should be discarded after each training session, especially when mouth-to-mouth ventilation has been performed. An exception to this is the manikin lungs used in the Laerdal Stackable Little Anne. These lungs can be used for about three months when combined with filters. The filters purify the air before it reaches the lungs, making these lungs reusable, unlike the typical manikin lungs that are intended for single use only.
